GRI: The Anatomy of the Code of Ethics
This course provides a comprehensive, practical exploration of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics and its direct relationship to Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) statutes and Commissioner’s Rules. Designed for the practicing real estate professional, the course goes beyond theory to examine how ethical obligations and legal requirements intersect in everyday transactions.
Through real-world case studies, participants will analyze how the Articles and Standards of Practice of the Code of Ethics align with—and at times exceed—the duties imposed by Arizona Revised Statutes and the Arizona Administrative Code. Emphasis is placed on commonly violated provisions, including duties to clients, the public, and other REALTORS®, and how these obligations impact agency relationships, disclosure, advertising, cooperation, and transaction management.
Students will also gain a clear understanding of the Professional Standards and ADRE enforcement process, including complaint procedures, hearings, and potential disciplinary actions, reinforcing accountability within the profession.
By the end of the course, licensees will be better equipped to:
- Apply ethical principles in real-world scenarios alongside Arizona legal requirements
- Identify risk areas where ethical violations and statutory violations overlap
- Make informed decisions that protect clients, the public, and their professional standing
- Elevate their level of professionalism and service in alignment with both the Code of Ethics and Arizona law
